Head CoachStephen Jackson, entrepreneur, Executive Director and Head Adult Distance Running Coach, Certified Nutritional Therapist and Certified Weight Management Specialist for Run2LIVE, Inc.. Stephen fell in love with running while training to run a marathon. Prior to running Stephen would bike ride as a way to stay healthy. Unfortunately Stephen didn't ride in the cold winters and every spring he was fighting to lose winter weight and get healthy. Stephen decided to train for a marathon as a way to change his lifestyle and get off of the medications for High Blood Pressure and High Cholesterol. One of the 1st things Stephen did on his running journey was to hire a personal coach. It was Stephen's thirst for knowledge and conversations with his coach that led to Stephen to getting his RRCA Coaching Certification. Stephen became interested in nutrition through changing his relationship with food and he decided to assist club members with doing the same by becoming certified in Nutritional Therapy and Weight Management. Through studying physiology Stephen has become very adept at working with runners who are going through rehabilitation as Stephen focus on proper running form, strength training and stretching to enforce weaken areas and promote recovery. Why I Run - Stephen Jackson
CoachI am ophthalmologist by profession who fell in love with running nearly 4 years ago. It was not surprising that I craved more knowledge about running as a sport. I've led group runs as a member and later ambassador of BGR! NYC and went on to obtain USTAF Level 1 and RRCA coaching certifications. My favorite distance is a tie between 10 miles and 13.1, but I definitely like the challenge of taking on 26.2 miles here and there. I also tell people that running shouldn't feel like a chore. It if, does mix things up. Try a fartlek workup, add in bike riding or swimming.
Certified Running Coach & Sports NutritionistHey Mekela here, I have been running all my life in some fashion or another, starting with team sports as a child, moving on to summer camp cross country teams and intermediate school track teams. As I grew into my fitness life, I have always returned to running as a quick way to get results. There is a family history of high blood pressure and diabetes, so I am forever working to stay healthy. I was participating in my job’s health challenge when I was introduced to Black Girls Run (BGR) in 2012. I became one of BGR ambassadors for the Central New Jersey chapter, where I learned to lead and motivate groups. This experience led to my RRCA Endurance Coaching Certification and Advanced Sports Nutrition Certification. I like helping others achieve their goals. I have raced numerous 5ks, 10ks, 5 milers, 10 milers, half marathons and 4 marathons and still counting. I love running, and other outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, water sports. My tag line as of late has been “Take It to the Next Level.” And I am always trying to do so.
Distance Running CoachHi Everyone! My name is Xiomara Ogando aka Xio! I am super excited to be a running coach with Run2Live. My running journey started 5 years ago, training with Team In Training with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I dedicated my very first race, the Women's Mini 10K (as called at that time) to my dear girlfriend's sister, who we lost to Leukemia in that year. The months of training and running experience culminated into an immense passion for running. Fast-forward, I am IN LOVE with running. I've completed various 5ks, 10ks, half-marathons, and three marathons to date (New York City Marathon in 2014 and 2015 and Chicago in 2016)! I also obtained the RRCA Running Coach Certification in 2015. The beauty of running is not only the benefits for mind, body, and soul, but also the bond and relationships formed with members of the running community. I love to be surrounded by like-minded, high-energy and high-spirited, positive people. This running thing has transformed my life. I look forward with my continuing my journey and also inspiring, motivating, and coaching other people too! Cheers!
